The Son
Week 4 · Wednesday · Psalm 2: The Nations Rage, the LORD Reigns
For today
Nations rage and plans are made, and heaven is not anxious. The psalm ends with a blessing on all who take refuge in the Son, and today you can be one of them.
Begin with these verses
verse 7I will proclaim the decree spoken to Me by the LORD: “You are My Son; today I have become Your Father. verse 8Ask Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance, the ends of the earth Your possession.
verse 11Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. verse 12Kiss the Son, lest He be angry and you perish in your rebellion, when His wrath ignites in an instant. Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.

The New Testament quotes this psalm · verse 7
Hebrews quotes this verse of Jesus, and speaks of God bringing his firstborn into the world. At his baptism the Father's voice echoed it: this is my beloved Son.
verse 5For to which of the angels did God ever say: “You are My Son; today I have become Your Father”? Or again: “I will be His Father, and He will be My Son”? verse 6And again, when God brings His firstborn into the world, He says: “Let all God’s angels worship Him.”
And a voice from heaven said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased!”
