Week 2 · Thursday · Psalm 46: God Is Our Refuge and Strength
For today
The earth shakes and the waters roar, and the psalm says be still. Stillness here is not calm feelings; it is ceasing to fight, and knowing who is God.

The psalm sings of the LORD of Hosts standing with his people. Matthew tells us Jesus is Immanuel, God with us, and Jesus promised his friends peace in him even when the world brings trouble.
“Behold, the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel” (which means, “God with us”).
I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world!”
