Into the Father's hands

For today
Today the Church remembers the death of Jesus. Read this psalm as the prayer he prayed at the end, and let it teach you how to entrust your own life to the Father.

verse 1In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; save me by Your righteousness. verse 2Incline Your ear to me; come quickly to my rescue. Be my rock of refuge, the stronghold of my deliverance.
Into Your hands I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O LORD, God of truth.
verse 14But I trust in You, O LORD; I say, “You are my God.” verse 15My times are in Your hands; deliver me from my enemies and from those who pursue me.

The New Testament quotes this psalm · verse 5
Jesus' last words from the cross were a prayer from this psalm, as he committed his spirit into his Father's hands. Peter adds that he entrusted himself to the one who judges justly.
Then Jesus called out in a loud voice, “Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit.” And when He had said this, He breathed His last.
verse 23When they heaped abuse on Him, He did not retaliate; when He suffered, He made no threats, but entrusted Himself to Him who judges justly. verse 24He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. “By His stripes you are healed.”
