Attributed to David, Psalm 29 describes a great storm sweeping from the sea over Lebanon and down to the wilderness. Many scholars think it adapts the style of Canaanite storm hymns to proclaim that the LORD, not Baal, rules the storm. It ends not in terror but in a blessing of peace.
