Psalm 72 is titled of Solomon, which may mean by or for him; verse 20 notes that the prayers of David end here, closing Book Two. It prays for a king who cares for the poor and whose reign blesses all nations. No king of Israel fully lived up to it, and Jews and Christians alike came to read it as a hope for the Messiah.
