Attributed to Asaph, Psalm 81 was likely sung at a great festival, perhaps the Feast of Tabernacles, with trumpets at the new and full moon. Much of it is spoken in God's voice, recalling the exodus and grieving his people's refusal to listen. Its tone is less anger than longing.
