Psalm 88 is attributed to the Sons of Korah and to Heman the Ezrahite, perhaps the Heman named among David's temple musicians. It is the darkest psalm in the Psalter, the prayer of someone who has suffered since youth and feels abandoned by God and friends. That it is in the Bible at all tells those in the dark that they are allowed to pray from there.
