  1. verse 5The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; You have made my lot secure.
  2. verse 6The lines of my boundary have fallen in pleasant places; surely my inheritance is delightful.
  3. verse 7I will bless the LORD who counsels me; even at night my conscience instructs me.
  4. verse 8I have set the LORD always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
  5. verse 9Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will dwell securely.
  6. verse 10For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol, nor will You let Your Holy One see decay.
  7. verse 11You have made known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.

In Christ

How this psalm points to Jesus

Peter preached that these verses speak of Jesus, whom God raised from the dead. Christian hope at a deathbed rests on His rising.

    Lord Jesus, You know (name) by name. Thank You for their life, and for every good thing You have given us through them. Stay close to them now. Amen.

  • Into Your hands

    Father, we place (name) into Your hands. Take away fear, give them peace, and hold them fast. Lord Jesus, You went through death before us; do not leave them alone in it. Amen.

  • For the family

    Lord, comfort everyone who loves (name). Give us words when we need them, and quiet when we don't. Let no one here be alone. Amen.
