Palm Sunday · Psalm 118: The Stone the Builders Rejected
For today
This psalm was likely sung by pilgrims at the temple gates during the festivals. On Palm Sunday the crowds sang it to Jesus, and before the week is out the cheering will stop; sing it anyway, knowing where he is going.

As Jesus rode into Jerusalem, the crowds spread cloaks and branches and cried Hosanna, blessing him as the one who comes in the Lord's name.
verse 8A massive crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. verse 9The crowds that went ahead of Him and those that followed were shouting: “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest!”
verse 12The next day the great crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. verse 13They took palm branches and went out to meet Him, shouting: “Hosanna!” “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the King of Israel!”
