This psalm is the prayer of someone mocked for loving God's house. Bring God the places where faithfulness has cost you something.

verse 7For I have endured scorn for Your sake, and shame has covered my face. verse 8I have become a stranger to my brothers and a foreigner to my mother’s sons, verse 9because zeal for Your house has consumed me, and the insults of those who insult You have fallen on me.
But my prayer to You, O LORD, is for a time of favor. In Your abundant loving devotion, O God, answer me with Your sure salvation.

The New Testament quotes this psalm · verse 9
Jesus drove the traders out of the temple, calling it a house of prayer. John, telling of a temple clearing, says his disciples remembered this psalm, and Paul says the insults aimed at God fell on Christ.
verse 15When they arrived in Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began to drive out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves. verse 16And He would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. verse 17Then Jesus began to teach them, and He declared, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’”
His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for Your house will consume Me.”
For even Christ did not please Himself, but as it is written: “The insults of those who insult You have fallen on Me.”
